Tip 1:
Newly engaged couples get reassured viewing Reviews and Testimonials
Tip 2:
We are going to be visiting the Cape soon… may we see you in action at a wedding or event?
Experience has shown that it’s better not to use a couple’s wedding day or private event to self promote
Will you act as our Emcee?
Yes, and tastefully. Never the center of attention. Any announcements are made to help your day flow more smoothly.
Tip 3:
Introductions:
Many couples save precious reception time by only introducing the bride and groom.
The more time you save on your day, the more fun you’ll have. which will like go more quickly than you might realize, will allow for more songs to be played.
These days, many couples are saving time by avoiding the epic-glitzy intros, and keeping it quick and simple. A great way to keep things moving too.
And lastly about intros: If your heart is set on introducing your entire bridal party, or you are pressured by certain family members to do so, that’s okay too. If your party is large, it’s better to use FIRST NAMES ONLY because it flows better when everyone is introduced.
It’s better to assign a family member to gather everyone up to be introduced to save time.
As the Bride & Groom you’ll likely be using your full name. Just be sure Tommy has your correct pronunciation. You can even spell out your married name (example, phonetically faw-NET-ic-LEE) if you’d want
Tip 4:
Are you willing and open to working with our music list?
Depends how danceable the songs on the list are. It always works better with smaller playlists with danceable songs. Choose 10 songs YOU will dance to. Note: If you provide a big list, with too many songs, it gets cumbersome to work with. Keep it simple. Tommy likes keeping things fun and lively.
Some songs are better for listening. Those tunes are more suited for your cocktail hour, or during dinner. And Tommy will make it FUN for you. With your musical input, he’ll help know where to mix in your selections so everyone is happy. If you like newer songs, you can choose from THE MOST CURRENT MUSIC
Tip 5:
How many songs shall we pick?
See “Tips for Choosing Your Music” to see tricks for picking important songs.
Guideline: Keep it simple by NOT choosing too many songs, or there will not be time for you to hear them. As motioned above
Some couples provide an A list of “must play” list of 10 songs, and sometimes a B list of, “If you have time could you please play these”
You might consider leaving a little breathing room (by not choosing every song yourself) for your guests to fit in a few requests of their own. They are sure to appreciate your kindness
Every wedding is unique so the number of songs at your wedding may vary slightly
Tip 6:
Are Song requests OK?
It’s up to YOU whether or not you want Tommy to take them, and only if time permits based on your must play songs. Requests CAN, and often DO, add a fun spark to the spontaneity of your day
Tip 7:
May we bring songs you are unlikely to have in your collection?
Yes, especially if it’s danceable, and your unique music collection. If you own a one of a kind song, Tommy is more than happy to play your song.
You can put the song on your iPhone or iPad and give it to Tommy at your wedding, or email it to him beforehand as an mp3 attachment. (Note: Be sure if Tommy uses your iDevice, that it’s fully charged, volume up, and song you want cued up)
Tip 8:
Are you able to provide music for our wedding ceremony ?
Yes, when your ceremony and reception are at the SAME location. Unable to travel to church or beach
What are your rates?
Will quote when we talk. DJ Rates vary around the Cape and are based on a DJs experience, popularity, talent level, degree of professionalism, and musical strengths
Tip 9:
Is DJ overtime (OT) available?
Sometimes overtime is available. Note: Any possible overtime must first be agreed to by both Tommy and the venue manager on duty
Tip 10:
What is your overtime rate?
Your overtime rate will be posted on our agreement.
Tip 11:
Music Volume? Great question.
Lower volume is always more pleasing to you and your guests than when it’s too high.
This especially rings true during those times when everyone wants to simple enjoy quiet conversation. During your cocktail hour and dinner hour guests are usually “catching up” with each other and saying their hellos. Lower music volume their experience pleasant.
Recap: Guests normally want to talk during dinner more than dance. Less volume is more soothing, so everyone is not competing with a bothersome music level. Success at this time in your event is measured by good conversation and “catching up” with others, which lends itself to lower music volume.
